Early Spring always brings so much colour to the gardens, and every year we're excited to see the Narcissus pseudonarcissus Pentillie Duke daffodil appear. It is believed that this vibrant daffodil is unique to Pentillie, generated through natural mutation and hybridisation from the many hundreds of varieties found near the walled garden.
This beautiful butter and primrose yellow ruffled flower was first spotted on the estate in 2012, by the late daffodil specialist Alan Street. The Pentillie Duke was named in honour of the then Head Gardener, Chris Duke who nurtured the Pentillie gardens for 40 years, before his retirement in 2019!
