Our neighbour Crocadon Farm gains a Michelin Star!

Nearly a year after receiving a Michelin Green Star, Crocadon (1 mile up the road at St Mellion) has been awarded a very well deserved Michelin Star! Describes perfectly as “the epitome of field to fork“ by Michelin Guide, this award comes as no surprise given their incredible menus and their continued innovation when it comes to food.

Having enjoyed our Christmas lunch at Crocadon (albeit a little late in February), we are delighted to recommend a meal in Dan and Michael’s hands. It was such a treat, with the majority of ingredients sourced from the farm. The café is also worth a visit too, with some incredible pastries emerging from the Bakery Barn. The croissants get Sammie’s firm seal of approval!

Congratulations to all at Crocadon for this wonderful achievement!

Signs of Spring

The gardens have already begun to transform and we can see signs of Spring blossoming. The daffodils along the drive are coming into bloom and the pollinators are out in force when the sun comes out, searching for a much needed dose of pollen.

While the gardens are only open for a few days this Spring, if you live nearby and fancy a more regular dose of the Pentillie Gardens, you can buy a Friends of Pentillie membership for just £30 for the year; giving you exclusive access to our 55 acres of historic woodland gardens (4-10 days per month), access to the pool in between castle bookings and special discounts throughout the year. Not to forget, you will also receive a free Pentillie gift in your welcome pack when you join! We can’t wait to see you in the gardens.

A pretty great new gate…

We have a new addition to the estate, in the form of a gate! Proper Edges (of hedge laying fame elsewhere on the estate) have outdone themselves by crafting this beautiful chestnut gate after felling one of our own chestnut trees that was only 50 yards away. This very special gate, on the way to the mausoleum, also features a touch of history with the original iron hinges and latch! It is a wonderful gate to lean on and admire the far-stretching views up the Tamar Valley. We absolutely love it and we cannot thank Jeremy and Jolyon form Proper Edges enough for their incredible craftsmanship.

A podcast recommendation from Sammie

The Conversations of Inspiration podcast shares honest stories from real entrepreneurs that inspire, give nuggets of wisdom and ‘ungoogleable‘ advice.

The latest episode with Elvis and Kresse Wesling CBE, founders of Elvis and Kresse (and Sammie’s uni mates), brilliantly showcases the power of circular business, as it delves into their experience of making luxury accessories from recycles materials. It is definitely worth a listen to hear how their business ethos puts the environment, ethics and community first.
