April News
As we welcome the delights of April, we extend a warm invitation to explore the enchanting grounds at Pentillie.
Meander through the American Gardens, where a vibrant array of camellias, rhododendrons, and azaleas unfurl in hues of pink, peach, red, and white. Dotted between, you can find a variety of delicate magnolias, each with its own unique charm, from the dainty stellata to the majestic magnolia x soulangeana.
Amidst fallen petals (courtesy of the recent rains and winds!) the woodland floor teems with the return of bluebells and wild primroses.
Journey to the orchard and be greeted by a cheerful display of daffodils, including our very own exclusive variety, the Narcissus pseudonarcissus 'Pentillie Duke', discovered on the estate in 2014 and named in honor of our former head gardener, Chris Duke.
These vibrant displays signal the anticipated arrival of spring, and we look forward to sharing this wonderful season with you!

Afternoon Tea - 10% discount available to all Friends
Enjoy a delicious Afternoon Tea in the elegant Castle Dining Room overlooking the River Tamar or in the sunshine on the garden terraces. Available between 12.30pm - 4.30pm on Sunday 19th May.
Garden Open Days - free entry to all Friends (membership holders only)
Enjoy a walk around the grounds, with cream tea boxes, Zinn’s coffee, and cake available to purchase in the Castle Courtyard. The gardens open from 11am - 4pm on Sunday 19th May.
Outdoor Theatre performance of ‘The Gondoliers’ - 10% discount available to all Friends
Award-winning outdoor theatre company, Illyria, bring an enchanting rendition of ‘The Gondoliers’ that promises an evening of laughter, music, and entertainment at Pentillie Castle on Wednesday 17th July 2024, 7pm (gardens open from 5.30pm).
Outdoor Theatre performance of 'Hamlet' - 10% discount available to all Friends
The UK’s premier all male theatre company, The Lord Chamberlain’s Men, bring their fabulous production of William Shakespeare’s timeless tragedy to Pentillie Castle on Wednesday 24th July 2024, 7pm (gardens open from 5:30pm).
