Brittany & Josef
Brittany & Josef
Ceremony and reception venue:
A ceremony in the Pentillie Bathing Hut, followed by a reception in the Pentillie Dining Room.
We met…
In Year 11, top set English class!
Your first impressions of each other:
Britt - “He was the naughty kid at the back of the class.”
Josef - “I thought she was a bit weird.“
How did your proposal happen (when and where)?
In Paris, 30th December 2021, outside the Louvre! He (the least romantic person ever!) said that it would definitely sound romantic when I told people, even though it wasn’t really.
Length of engagement:
2 years (minus 1 day!)
In three words, how did you imagine your wedding day?
Britt - Fairy tale, Castle and amazing!
Josef - Organised. By. Britt.
How did you choose your venue?
Britt - I ALWAYS wanted to get married in a castle. I did a LOT of research online and wanted intimate, but luxury, and I’d imagined fireplaces and chandeliers. We looked at Pentillie and loved it and it ticked all of the boxes, but it wasn’t until we saw the Bathing Hut that we knew it was the one.
Often the aspect that makes a wedding original to the couple is the detail/theme – tell us about the special details of the day and how you implemented them (colours, theme decorations, centre pieces, favours, photo booths, DIY etc).
We wanted to make things as personal to us as we could. We had motorbike helmets as our guestbook (Joe’s a biker), Britt made the cake and the flowers, we had family make the cake stand and decorations and our evening nibbles were made by Britt and all our favourite treats!
Please give a brief account of your wedding planning story i.e., priorities, highs & lows, challenges etc…
Britt - I absolutely loved the entire planning process. Everything was organised and decided in the first few months of our engagement and I actually got a bit bored halfway through, because I’d sorted everything too early!
Joe - Britt literally planned everything…
What food did you choose for your day, wedding breakfast and evening buffet, and why?
We chose a 3 course sit down menu for the wedding breakfast and Devon Burgers for our evening food. The caterers were recommended online and by Pentillie and they had been to the venue before. We also had a tasting before the day.
What was the song for your first dance, and why?
I’ll Follow You - Shinedown
Joe’s a big fan of Shinedown, we’ve seen them in concert, and Britt somehow agreed, partly because it’s the only remotely romantic song that Joe likes.
What was your favourite part of the wedding?
Britt - Absolutely everything.
Joe - The Photo Safari in the Landrover with Chrissie!
What was the most important investment for you? For example, food, drink, clothes, honeymoon?
The venue.
What is your top tip for other couples?
Britt - Plan everything perfectly, and don’t stress if things aren’t exactly as you pictured them.
Joe - Spend the money wisely!
Also, trust Chrissie and the Pentillie team - they are amazing.
