How did your proposal happen (when and where)?
Matt proposed at Rame Head, somewhere we would go to walk the dogs when started dating.
Length of engagement: 9 months
In three words, how did you imagine your wedding day?
Filled with love
How did you choose your venue?
Pentillie was the first place we visited and took our breath away, nothing compare after that!
Often the aspect that makes a wedding original to the couple is the detail/theme – tell us about the special details of the day and how you implemented them (colours, theme decorations, centre pieces, favours, photo booths, DIY etc).
With the Castle being so beautiful, we felt we didn’t need many decorations, we had a few flowers in small vase that matched the colour theme and re-used our flowers from the bathing hut for our top table. My auntie made us a welcome sign to match our invites, which was a surprise. We chose a cheese tower instead of a cake which then became one option for our evening food. We had a photo booth and some glow stick for the dance floor. We used some potted plants in the bathing hut, which we then gave out/kept for our garden, which was a great way to help reduce costs.
Were you inspired by anyone on social media? Pinterest/Instagram etc?
I got a few ideas from Pinterest like hair styles and presents, but didn’t want to get to carried away with trying to make it like what is on social media.
Please give a brief account of your wedding planning story i.e., priorities, highs & lows, challenges etc…
As we had a quick turn around trying to find a supplier who was available, that was a little hard. However this made us make decisions quickly which did make the whole thing a bit easier. After sorting the venue, I booked hair and make up and Matt went looking for his suit.
What food did you choose for your day, wedding breakfast and evening buffet, and why?
We had canapés after the ceremony, tomato and mozzarella bruschetta, crab arancini and parma ham, watermelon and feta. For our wedding breakfast we had a black pudding scotch egg, beef short rib tip with crushed potatoes and seasonal vegetables and creme brulee , it was all delicious! We had so many compliments.
What was your favourite part of the wedding?
Matt- seeing Laura walk down the aisle.
Laura- the whole day was so wonderful, but my favourite moment was seeing Matt as I walked in the Bathing Hut.
What was the song for your first dance and why?
We chose Tenerife Sea by Ed Sheeran, it was one of the first concerts we went to see together.
What was the most important investment for you? For example, food, drink, clothes, honeymoon?
Not doing to much so that we could spend time with our friends and family.
What is your top tip for other couples?
Matt- take it all in and enjoy it, it goes by so quickly.
Laura- Make sure you spend time with you new Husband/Wife, go together everywhere, means you don’t have the same conversation twice!
